Named Top 10 Community College by Aspen Institute
Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s student-focus, teaching excellence and research opportunities,
and low-cost tuition, which have been regionally well-known for years, launched the
college into a top 10 finalist spot for the 2017 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation’s preeminent recognition of high achievement and performance in America’s
community colleges.
Anoka-Ramsey Community College is accredited by and a member of the Higher Learning
Commission.
Accreditation is the result of a positive external review by an authorized agency
such as the Higher Learning Commission. The Higher Learning Commission is responsible
for assuring that colleges and universities meet certain standards in terms of their
missions, operations, and activities in teaching and student learning, discovery and
promotion of knowledge, and service. Unaccredited schools are not eligible for many
kinds of federal support.
The college has long-standing economic relationships with its surrounding communities.
Along with its aligned college, Anoka Technical College, Anoka-Ramsey was responsible
for $437.6 million in economic impact and 3,351 jobs, according to research commissioned
in 2023 by Minnesota State. The college’s economic impact is multi-faceted. It connects
employers to qualified job candidates, provides critical workforce training and, through
student and employee spending, creates and sustains jobs.
