Physical Therapist Assistant Program Admissions

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Anoka-Ramsey Community College is a special admission program that accepts applications for review once a year in February for a fall semester start. Review eligibility requirements to be able to apply to the program.

How to Apply

    Apply to Anoka-Ramsey

    • Complete your free online application.
    • Save your StarID and password. You'll use these for student email and college services and must be included in your PTA program application.
    • Watch your email for your next steps and updates on enrollment.

    Determine Course Placement

    Course placement in ENGL 1121 (College Writing and Critical Reading) or submission of ENGL 1121 transfer equivalent.

    Successful completion of ENGL 1120 (Crosscurrent College Writing and Critical Reading is also accepted.

    Submit HSRT Scores or Proof of BA Degree

    One of the following must be submitted to meet minimum qualifications to apply to the PTA program
    • Health Science Reasoning Test (HSRT) official score transcript, or
    • Proof of completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Your degree can be any discipline and must be completed at the time of application.

    Submit Official Transcripts

    If you have earned college-level credits you must request an official transcript to be sent to Anoka-Ramsey.

    If you are enrolled at an institution but did not complete credits there (dropped coursework prior to the start of the term, withdrew from all courses, or gained all F grades in all courses), you must order a transcript from the institution or gain a letter of non-attendance from the institution to send to the Anoka-Ramsey Records Office for documentation.

    Apply to the Program

    Completing the above minimum application eligibility requirements does not guarantee program admission. If you meet minimum application eligibility requirements, you will be given an applicant score based on how many of the program-specific biology courses and general education courses they have completed, grades in these courses and score on the standardized test or proof of bachelor’s degree documentation you submit.

    Applicant scores are ranked and used to determine the top scores which will be offered places in the program.
    The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Records Office will notify all applicants by email of acceptance or denial of admission no later than April 15.

Admitted Students

Students who are offered admission to the program must respond within 14 days of their admission notice to accept their seat in the program. Admitted students who confirm their spot in the program will be notified of the date and time for the required PTA student orientation, typically held in May.

Reapplication

If you did not get accepted to the cohort you originally applied for and wish to gain admission to the program in the future, you must reapply.

If an applicant is accepted and declines to be admitted into the program, no preference will be given should you choose to apply in any subsequent year.
