Concurrent High School Partner Resources

Anoka-Ramsey’s Concurrent Enrollment program allows high schools to offer college-level courses to their students, taught by qualified high school instructors. This page provides an overview of the steps, responsibilities and resources needed to successfully partner with Anoka-Ramsey.

Administering a Concurrent Enrollment program requires collaboration and planning between the high school and Anoka-Ramsey’s Concurrent Enrollment staff. High schools are responsible for:

Timelines, Teacher Resources & Documentation
Once your school decides to move forward, courses and teachers must be approved by Anoka-Ramsey. All new course requests and teacher applications must be submitted by March 1 of the year prior to being offered.

There are a number of deadlines leading up to the start of classes. Please review the general timelines and responsibilities in our Concurrent Enrollment High Schoool Guide.

A Concurrent Enrollment Course Request Form is required for all new courses. The request form will be reviewed by the department and academic leadership to determine if a course will be approved to run as a Concurrent Enrollment course at that particular high school. Anoka-Ramsey may follow up with the high school to determine feasibility.

New high school partner teachers must apply to teach the Anoka-Ramsey courses. Applications are due by March 1 prior to the academic year the course will first run.

All high school partner teachers are expected to meet Anoka-Ramsey and Minnesota State’s credentialing requirements, specific to their discipline. For most disciplines, Anoka-Ramsey requires that instructors minimally have a master's degree in the discipline or have a master's degree in any field, with at least 18 graduate credits (semester) in the discipline.

To determine the credentialing requirements of a specific course, you can visit the Minnesota State College Faculty Credentialing website and view the credentialing fields: Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) Credentialing.

How to Apply:

Supporting Materials include:

  • Resume (Optional)
  • Copies of all Undergraduate and Graduate transcripts

Anoka-Ramsey’s academic leadership over the discipline, along with our Human Resources department, will review all applications to determine if high school partner teachers meet the credentialing requirements of campus faculty. Once reviewed, Anoka-Ramsey’s Director of K-12 Partnerships will notify the high school partner teacher, and their high school administration, of their approval or denial to teach the Concurrent Enrollment course.

All new Concurrent Enrollment high school partner teachers are required to attend the Concurrent Enrollment orientation. Anoka-Ramsey’s Concurrent Enrollment team will provide information about the program and responsibilities of the high school partner teachers.

Each high school partner teacher will be assigned an Anoka-Ramsey Faculty Liaison who will assist the high school partner teachers in developing the course, creating a syllabus and identifying suitable textbooks and resources. To meet the National Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships requirements, the Faculty Liaisons paired with the new high school partner teachers will also attend the orientation to allow for course-specific training prior to the start of the course. Faculty Liaisons must cover course philosophy, curriculum, syllabus, pedagogy and plan a paired assessment for the course with the high school partner teacher.

Our partnerships often collaborate throughout the summer, between the Orientation and start of the class. Faculty Liaisons will also visit the high school classroom at least once during the academic year and collaborate with the high school partner teacher throughout the year.

The mandatory Concurrent Enrollment orientation typically occurs in June. Specific dates will be provided to high school partner teachers upon their approval.

High school partner teachers must adhere to the Non-Compliance Policy for Course Content as listed in the Concurrent Enrollment High School Guide.

Per the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) accreditation standards, Anoka-Ramsey is required to provide discipline specific professional to all high school partner teachers annually.

Professional Development may look different for each partner teacher. Some disciplines, with larger numbers of high school partner teachers, may host their high school partner teachers on campus to sit in on classes and spend time as a group discussing topics such as course content, course delivery, assessment, evaluation and/or research and developments in the field. Other disciplines may attend an event, or training, provided it is a meaningful, discipline specific, professional development.

High school partner teachers must adhere to the Non-Compliance Policy for Professional Development as listed in the Concurrent Enrollment High School Guide.

This form must be completed in order to withdraw a student from a course. Students may also be able to withdraw online through eServices. Students can be withdrawn starting the 6th day of the Anoka-Ramsey course, through 80% of the course length.
