Tutoring Services

Anoka-Ramsey students, including PSEO students and concurrent enrollment students, can schedule appointments for in-person or online tutoring sessions with peer or professional tutors by logging into Navigate with their StarID and password.

Drop-in tutoring is available in any of the centers. Designated drop-in tutoring occurs daily in the Math Skills Center between 10 am and 4 pm.

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction is offered in select courses in which a specially trained Supplemental Instruction Lead (a former student of the class) conducts study sessions for the students in a specific class. Study sessions include collaborative activities that give students the opportunity to review concepts, interact with the class material, and gain confidence and practice independent learning. Students who participate in Supplemental Instruction statistically earn higher grades.

If you have questions or want more information about Supplemental Instruction opportunities, please email Carolyn Youngbauer at carolyn.youngbauer@anokaramsey.edu.

On Track Peer Mentoring Program

On Track Peer Mentors are partnered with students who are seeking additional non-academic support. Mentoring focuses on goal setting, planning, obstacle assessment, problem solving, time management, study skills, and more. On Track is specifically designed to support students who are on academic probation or academic warning, but all students are welcome to participate. If you are interested in working with a mentor or are interested in becoming an On Track Peer mentor, please contact Carolyn Youngbauer at carolyn.youngbauer@anokaramsey.edu.

Peer tutors are Anoka-Ramsey students who excel in their course work and possess skills and qualities that make them valuable tutors. In addition, peer tutors have been recommended by Anoka-Ramsey faculty as demonstrating superior subject knowledge.

Your success in a recent class may be valuable to students who will take that same class in the future. If you feel like you would enjoy tutoring your peers in a subject where you’ve been particularly successful, please follow the recommendations for becoming a peer tutor.

Requirements of a Peer Tutor

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Earned A or B in class for which they would like to tutor
  • Enrolled in at least six credits during the semester in which they tutor
  • Recommendation from instructor

Steps to become a Peer Tutor

  • Receive a recommendation from an instructor. Ask your instructor to recommend you as a tutor to the ASC, MSC, or Writing Center.
  • Contact one of the tutoring centers to learn more about peer tutoring.
